The first racist I'm going to write about is Nick Gallant. I chose Mr. Gallant simply because he is the Founder and National President of the Northern Guard, which is the first group I have researched. Mr. Gallant is also the National Public Relations Officer at The Northern Guard and is located in Riverview, New Brunswick. In order for me to get a better idea who Nick Gallant was, I studied his Facebook profile posts and also watched all his Facebook videos. Before I begin writing on specific racists, I want to make sure I write as objectively and unbiased as I possibly can.
While other blogs have completely demonized Nick Gallant, I want to also present some of the more positive things about him. My impressions from his videos are that he seems to be a genuine and good natured person. He is a single father and he owns his own business. Without knowing anything about Northern Guard, one might see Nick Gallant as a respectable person in his community. He gives back to his community through the charity work he does as part of the Northern Guard. Throughout his videos he tries to make it clear that his club is neither racist or white supremacist. He even notes that there are many Black and Indigenous people that are members of the Northern Guard. On his Facebook page, he often leaves uplifting messages for his family and friends and he seems like he really cares about people.

During my research on Nick Gallant, I often found myself confused by him and his behavior. On the one hand, he seems like a cool guy, someone I could see being a friend with. On the other hand, he is the leader of a club that even though it does some good, seems to also have racist tendencies. On more than one occasion in his videos he addresses the behavior of various members and states that as long as they abide by the clubs agenda, then he doesn't care so much about their ideology. He cares about making Canada a better place for his children to grow up in, but also kind of looks at his club's members with a blind-eye. Apart from that, he himself, also seems to show some racism in the pictures he posts on Facebook.

Why do a lot of the pictures he has posted on Facebook show him flashing the okay hand sign? The sign stands for white power and has been associated with neo-Nazis. Now if it were only one or two pictures of him doing the okay hand sign, I would make the assumption that he was simply saying okay. There are six pictures on his Facebook page that have him or someone with him showing the okay hand sign. If you are not racist, then why do you often make this racist hand gesture?
He also seems to allow the use of racial slurs within the Northern Guard and seems to do so without correcting the member using them. In one example, he even "likes" a racist comment.

It also seems like he approves of violence to others from the Northern Guard. He makes no attempt to correct his club's members from making violent comments on his Facebook posts. Even if they aren't members of the Northern Guard he still has a responsibility to admonish the person for making the comments. Examples below:

If you're not racist then why do you allow or "like" these comments? If you're not promoting or okaying violence then why do you allow violent posts by your members or your friends on your Facebook? If you are not a white supremacist then why do you continually flash the okay hand sign which stands for white power?
